Deadlines for Validation Reports and Self-Evaluations

DSOs must validate a student’s employment data four times during the STEM OPT extension. Validation reporting is done in SEVIS. Paper documentation is NOT mailed to SEVP but must be reported to the ISGSS office (isgss@lewisu.edu). Timelines are below.

I received an email from SEVP to submit my STEM OPT Validation Report, what should I do?

1. Identify what type of validation is due/ you are required to submit.
   1. Please refer to your signed STEM OPT Student Information Sheet & Reporting Dates for your particular reporting deadlines. This form was filled out by an ISGSS DSO and was sent to you when you requested your I-20 with STEM OPT recommendation.

   2. You can calculate your validation due dates from the start date on your EAD card and adding 6, 12, 18, or 24 months.

1. To complete your validation, please make sure to fill out the correct validation form. Filling out the incorrect form will result in denial of your validation.
   1. 6-month STEM Validation Form
      1. To figure out your 6-month validation date, look at your EAD card start date and add 6 months
         
         
   2. 12-month STEM Validation Form
      1. To figure out your 12-month validation date, look at your EAD card start date and add 12 months.
         
         
   3. 18-month STEM Validation Form
      1. To figure out your 18-month validation date, look at your EAD card start date and add 18 months.
         
         
   4. 24-month STEM Validation Form
      1. To figure out your 24-month validation date, look at your EAD card start date and add 24 months.
         
         
2. If you need to make changes after submitting:
   1. Go back to the form linked above using the same email address you originally used. Make the necessary edits and re-upload the correct file(s). Do not create or submit a new form. If you are having trouble accessing the form, please let us know.

Processing takes 5–7 business days if your form is complete and accurate. Do not wait until the deadline to submit – plan ahead to allow sufficient processing time.
